Recreation
The fun never stops in South Salt Lake! Our youth/adult sports programs and events are some of the best in the state, providing high-quality and affordable fun. At the Recreation Department, we arrange many activities for residents of all ages - from youth soccer to adult sports leagues to the annual Senior Ball. After all, we're a small city with big opportunities!

What We Do
The Recreation Department helps build community unity by providing sports programs and community events, creating a better quality of life for all our residents in South Salt Lake.
Our motto, "People, Pride and Programs", says it best! We believe that all three "P's" are needed to foster a stronger community in SSL. To that end, we help people meet new friends, build pride in their community and enjoy a great roster of community programs and events.
Our Department handles three main areas of recreation around South Salt Lake:
- Youth Sports
- Adult/Intramural Sports
- Community Events - Annual and one-off community events, including the Halloween Spooktacular, Santa's Breakfast, Easter Egg Hunt, Senior Ball, and Freedom Fest.
In addition to everything we do, there are many other recreational opportunities around South Salt Lake, including:
- South Salt Lake Community Center
- Central Park Community Center gym and sports fields
- County Library
- Senior Center
- Parks and trails
- Promise SSL events and centers
- Art Classes (SSL Arts Council)
We believe that providing social opportunities to all our residents helps us strengthen our community, build lasting friendships and grow as individuals. After all, "free time" is the most important time of the day!
