Facilities

The city’s most recognizable building was designed by C.S. McDonald in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. The South Salt Lake Community Center plays host to some of South Salt Lake’s most important activities, clubs, and events. The building was an elementary school for over 60 years, before becoming the heart of South Salt Lake. It includes an auditorium, gym, meeting rooms, dance room, and an outdoor courtyard, all of which are available for rent.

The Community Opportunity Center

The Community Opportunity Center ("The Co-Op") offers digital access, job and career supports, and financial empowerment coaching. This is the newest addition to the center, taking the space of the former Columbus Branch County Library.  A new county library has opened at 3300 S 500 East.

South Salt Lake Senior Center

Monday through Friday: 8:30 am 2:30 pm

Formerly known as the Columbus Center, the South Salt Lake Senior Center provides meals, activities and classes for senior residents. 

SSL Recreation Department

Monday through Friday: 9 am 5 pm

The City’s own Recreation Department operates out of the Community Center and leads classes, camps, and leagues for all ages and interests at a variety of city parks.

Open gym is held in the gymnasium next to the Rec Dept.

Meeting rooms, auditorium and a gymnasium can be rented by contacting Recreation.

Best Buy Teen Tech Center

Tuesday through Friday: 3 to 1pm, Saturday: 10 am to 2 pm

A fun and free drop-in lab to experiment and innovate with a range of advanced tech, including Microsoft Studio computers, a 3D printer and a recording studio.

Hser Ner Moo Promise South Salt Lake Program

Fall and Spring: Monday through Thursday: 4 to 7 pm, Friday: 2:30 to 5:30 pm; Summer: Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm 

This Promise SSL center offers youth help with reading, math, science and ESL, as well as fun clubs and sports activities for students Kindergarten through 12th grade. 

The Center also works with community partners to offer ESL classes, parenting support and more!
