- 96.2% of Promise South Salt Lake funding is achieved through grants and philanthropic donations.
- We host programs in eight Community Centers and six school-based Learning Centers.
- We served 2,096 youth in Afterschool during the 2019-2020 school year. It is projected that 451 of these youth would have attended 90 + days, if programs hadn't been impated by COVID-19.
- We are one of 7 neighborhoods in the United Way of Salt Lake Promise Partnerships.
- South Salt Lake is one of the most racially and ethnically diverse communities in Utah. We are home to one of the largest Refugee and Immigrant communities (25%) as well as the largest Asian and Asian American population (11%) in the state.
- While 22% of the population lives in poverty, in most of our community’s schools, upwards of 90% of children qualify for Free or Reduced Price lunch.
Successes
- From 2010-2019, juvenile arrests declined by 71% and on school days between 3 and 6 p.m., there was a 67% reduction in juvenile arrests.
- In 2019, Teachers reported 74% of elementary and 67% of middle and high school students showed an improvement in in-school behavior.
- In 2019, Teachers reported 66% of elementary and 61% of middle and high school students showed an improvement in grades.
- In 2015, the Utah International Charter School graduated its first senior. In 2018, that number grew to 30 graduating seniors!
