SSL Animal Services Update
more ▼ less ▲Please make note of the following updates from SSL Animal Services:
- The Animal Shelter is open weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Masks need to be worn for people not fully vaccinated.
- We are not currently accepting the surrender of pets, from within our boundaries. As of 6/21/2022, our shelter is full to capacity.
- Accepting donations: food, litter, blankets, or look at our Amazon wishlist.
- To learn about all our adoptable animals, visit Animals for Adoption.

2022 Fire Restriction Orders
more ▼ less ▲The South Salt Lake Fire Department has been monitoring current drought conditions
and has determined that fireworks, explosive devices, and open flames create a safety
hazard to the community due to the current existing moisture content of vegetation.
We ask that you consider the weather and “Skip another Year” on fireworks discharge
and follow the guidelines listed below.Discharge Dates:
Between the hours of 11 am and 11 pm except as noted:
July 2 – July 5 (July 4th hours extended to midnight)
July 22 – 25 (July 24th extended to midnight)
December 31 (11 am – 1 am January 1)
Chinese New Year’s Eve (11 am – 1 am the following day)
It is illegal to ignite any firework in any area of the city west of 900 West. It is illegal to
ignite any firework within 20 feet of any residence, dwelling, or other structure. It is
illegal to ignite any firework on property owned by the City of South Salt Lake. It is
illegal to ignite any firework within 200 feet of waterways, trails, canyons, washes,

New City Council District Boundary Map
more ▼ less ▲By law once every 10 years, following Census results, our city evaluates the population of districts to ensure that each has roughly the same amount of people.The 2020 Census reports the population of South Salt Lake at 26,777. When redistricting SSL the approximate/target population number in each of our 5 districts is now 5,355. Donations for Animal Services
more ▼ less ▲UPDATE: Generous donors have covered the cost of Malin's surgery and medical expenses!!!
Donations are still being accepted for future emercency vet services.
This is Malin (English), meaning "warrior" or "strong, little warrior"
This baby was thrown out of a car and has two broken back legs. She also has two rib fractures that will heal with time. She will need to have surgery on both back legs.
This little one is only 2 months old. We would love to help her heal and then find her the best home where all she will know is love. This little lady has had a lot of trauma in short time here but she deserves a chance and love.

South Salt Lake Streets Bundle Project

Request for Qualifications:
The City of South Salt Lake is seeking a highly qualified engineering design firm for the South Salt Lake Streets Bundle Project. Qualified firms are requested to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) and fee schedule to provide the engineering services outlined in the Request for Qualifications (RFQ). The selected firm will work closely with SSLC’s Engineering and Public Works Departments. SOQs will be accepted from various firms in order to conduct a fair and extensive evaluation. Complete and timely submittal of all required documents listed in the RFQ is required for the SOQ to be considered.
The City of South Salt Lake will accept SOQs for the project until 2:00 p.m. on June 2nd, 2022. SOQs received after 2:00 p.m. will not be considered. Each respondent must submit five (5) physical copies and one digital of their SOQ. All required documents for the selecting process shall be directly submitted to the South Salt Lake City Recorder, Craig Burton, at:

Playground Improvements at Fitts
more ▼ less ▲The current main playground (Little Tikes Playground) at Fitts Park is temporarily closed to the public until equipment improvements and a new rubber ground surface has been installed.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation keeping out of the construction zone. The rubber surface requires warm weather to build, so with a little weather luck, the playground will open by Memorial Day!Until then, please continue to visit any other of our City playgrounds: https://sslc.gov/residential-services/parks/playgrounds
