Youth Programs
Our youth programs are what we are best known for. We put a specific emphasis on our youngest residents, providing a city-wide system of afterschool that ensures our youth receive the same high-quality services across all of our programs year-round.
Youth in grades (K-12) who attend school in South Salt Lake, including those who are home-schooled, may be eligible to attend. Programs at community schools can only serve youth who attend school at the given site or home-schooled youth who live within the boundaries of the school. Programs at community centers can serve all youth and their families who live, learn, work, play, and pray in South Salt Lake.
Each day includes snack and dinner services, homework help or tutoring, enrichment activities which include; model prevention programming, art, STEM, recreation, service learning, and college and career prep. The programs are supported by staff trained in best practices, college mentors and volunteers, and programming partners.

About the Program
Serving youth ages 13 through 19, located within the South Salt Lake Community Center. At the Teen Tech Center, we call the teens "members" because it's a space that we want them to take ownership in. The space is filled with state-of-the-art technology that members can use as tools to complete passion projects, such as making music, creating multimedia art, designing 3D objects, and much more. This is a safe space for teens to be themselves through collaboration and creativity.

The SSL Youth City Council works to foster civic engagement among youth and empower them to be involved in their community and local government by providing opportunities to be a voice of their peers to elected officials at the local, county, state, and even national levels, as well as promoting leadership development through service learning projects and life and job skills preparation.
Video Game Design Club
This curriculum was written in collaboration with Chat GPT. These activities are designed for players in grades 3rd-5th and 6th-8th to work in groups of 2-4. In some cases, players will work/play together at the same time and in others they will take turns. Throughout the club, players will design and work on several levels. Some players may create many different levels and then choose one to refine for their final project. Other players, especially older players, may create one level which they add to and refine each week.
Pokémon Club
The Pokemon Card Game appeals to people of all ages. However, the game is fairly text-heavy and requires players to be able to add, subtract, and multiply 2 digit numbers in multiples of 10. Activities will need to be adjusted depending on the age of the players, the span of ages within the club, varying reading and math levels between players, and the players’ experience with the card game.
