Downtown Development

Downtown South Salt Lake is undergoing one of the biggest revitalizations in the valley! In the next 30 years, our downtown will look completely different, with new residential development and ground-level businesses serving the burgeoning urban population to come. We are excited for the retail opportunities this will provide for our resdients and new businesses.

Housing and Transit Reinvestment Zone (HTRZ)

In  2024, South Salt Lake received HTRZ status on our downtown sector. We are grateful to the HTRZ committee for seeing our vision and providing the tools that will help redevelop the area around one of the biggest public transit hubs in the state.

SSL Community and Economic Development Director, Jonathan Weidenhamer, presented our HTRZ application to the City's Redevelopment Agency (RDA) during the November 15 public meeting.  View the South Salt Lake HTRZ application.
