Central Park CC

Central Park Community Center provides indoor and outdoor activities, clubs and programs for South Salt Lake's youth and families. Formerly Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, the site was converted in 2010 to become a municipal community center. Central Park plays host to many important programs and partners as well as excellent public-use facilities and fields. These include:

Police Athletics / Activities League (PAL)

Athletic TrainerThe South Salt Lake PAL offers excellent youth development programs, including after-school activities, homework assistance, a boxing program, Bowl with a Cop, and other athletics. PAL is a free program run by the South Salt Lake Police Department and Promise SSL, with the goal of building trust and community between officers and community youth. Youth have the opportunity to compete in sports while being mentored by coaches, police officers and adults who truly care.

Head Start

Head StartUtah Community Action operates several community support programs at their building located adjacent to Central Park. These programs are offered free or on a sliding fee scale to help support education and job training in our community. Utah Community Action also has staff who can help families meet their basic needs for food, housing, utility bills, and more. For more information, see their website or call 801-359-2444.

Promise South Salt Lake

The Promise SSL afterschool program helps community youth excel in their schoolwork while exploring potential college and career paths. At the Central Park Community Center, staff are on-hand to help students with their schoolwork, and to provide mentoring and career-based services. For more information, email Promise SSL.

Little Free Library

Community Garden & Farmer's Market

Community GardenThe International Rescue Committee supports refugee families in their transition to life in a new country. The community garden is a popular New Roots program, and is often filled with vegetables indigenous to many countries. The produce grown is offered at a weekly farmer's market at Central Park during summer months. Garden plots are available to the general public upon request to the New Roots program coordinator.
