In November of 2025, the South Salt Lake Police Department partnered with the National Shooting Sports Foundation and other agencies across the Salt Lake Valley to introduce Project Childsafe. The goal of the project is to educate people about proper gun safety, storage, and promote good habits in order to prevent firearm accidents, theft, and misuse.
Project ChildSafe offers free educational resources to demonstrate the importance of firearm safety and to encourage the promotion and practice of responsible firearm ownership.
As a Project Childsafe participating agency, we encourage residents to pick up a free gun lock and educational materials at our Police Department, located at 2835 S Main St, during normal business hours.
